Trendy en gezellige Flat
My flat is located right in the heart of several of Tokyo's most popular neighborhoods. With easy access to Shibuya and Omotesando stations, you will have no problem getting around the city.
You will also have walking access to all kinds of restaurants, bars, art galleries and popular sightseeing spots. You will be in the most Vegetarian friendly neighborhood in Tokyo.
The apartment is located in Aoyama, a sophisticated and relatively laid-back part of Shibuya-ku. Often described as a more 'grown-up' version of Shibuya or Harajuku, you will get to experience as much of the convenience and amenities of central Shibuya but with much less of the noise, crowds and teenagers.
With that said, central Shibuya and Shibuya station are only an 8 minute walk away, so you get the best of both worlds.
There are so many restaurants close by that it would be impossible to mention them all. In the same building as my apartment, there is an Italian wine bar and a Chinese restraurant.
Right next door is a delicious macrobiotic izakaya with English menus. There are all kinds of international restaurants in the near vicinity and the area is also known for its comfy cafes.
For the health-conscious and vegetarian, you will have a much easier time here than in most neighborhoods in Japan. In addition to the macrobiotic izakaya, there is also a healthy juice shop around the corner.
At the nearest intersection you can get to the United Nations University where they have a farmers market outside every weekend. Close by are also other excellent organic restaurants and supermarkets.
Turn right outside of the apartment and within only about 2 minutes you can arrive at 3 well-respected venues to hear some of Tokyo's best DJ's. One of them is Oath, a great place to see veterans sharing the decks with lesser-known locals. It (usually) has free entry, a great sound system and parties that can sometimes go on until late the next day.
About six minutes away is a popular concert venue called Aoyama Cay. In about 12 minutes on foot you can get to famous jazz clubs like Blue Note and Body and Soul.
The neighborhood is known for both its modern architecture and art galleries. You will also have an easy walk to both the Okamoto Taro Memorial Museum and the Nezu Museum.
Throughout Japan, Aoyama is synonymous with high-end fashion. Unfortunately, this is far from being my area of expertise. But here is a list of a few stores close to my flat: Prada, Loveless, Vivienne Westwood, Corso Como, BAPE Exclusive, James Perse, Gucci, Mark Jacobs, etc. If you are into these kinds of stores then I suggest you do your own research, but I can try to help if you have any questions.
Shibuya Station: JR Yamanote Line (Shinjuku 7 min, Harajuku 2 min, Ebisu 2 min.), Keio Inokashira Line (Shimokitazawa 3 min, Kichijoji 18 min), Den-en-toshi, Hanzomon, Toyoko, Fukutoshin, Ginza, JR Saikyo and JR Shonan-Shinjuku lines.
Omotesando station: Ginza Line (Ginza 13 min, Asakusa 30 min.)
Chiyoda Line (Harajuku 1 min, Akasaka 4 min.), Hanzomon Line (Nagatacho 5 min.).
I hope you enjoy the apartment and love the area as much as I do.
